Belonging Songs is your bi-weekly podcast that delivers a brand new, original song each episode, then discusses the themes of that song, and the processes that went into writing and recording it.

Meet your hosts:

Wade Dana - Wade is self-taught multi-instrumental musician of over 20 years, with formal education in music production, and music business from Berklee College of Music. Wade makes music under the pseudonym “Harnol Slin”, and is the person responsible for dreaming up this podcast.

Brad Maurer - Another self-taught multi-instrumentalist who has been writing and recording his own original songs for over 20 years. Brad records under the moniker “Uzi Royal”, and is a main contributor to the musical content of this show.

Dr. Patrick Crane - Patrick is a passionate music fan and guitarist ready to delve into the world of songwriting and collaboration; he acts as the voice of the listener while critiquing the songs brought to the podcast by Brad and Wade. Patrick will be working toward releasing his own songs for review on the podcast as we progress.

Chad Calton - Joining us for Season 3 and beyond is our drummer extraordinaire Chad. Chad’s been playing drums for over 30 years (!!!), and his addition to the songwriting and recording process helps to elevate the songs on the show into a whole new stratosphere.

Regular Show Features:

Listen to The Demo - Each episode features a new, unreleased song from one of the hosts, or guest. We gauge initial reactions to the song, reveal our emotive responses to it, discuss its intention, and compare how close the artist and listener are in their perception of its overall meaning and effectiveness.

Let’s Get Technical - After discussing the theme of the song, we dive into how it was recorded and produced, exploring the techniques and gear used throughout the production.

To The Future! - When a song that is brought to the podcast that still requires tweaking, the artist will take their received feedback and make the revisions necessary to complete it. The process may take weeks in real-time, but, because we have access to a time machine, you get to hear the results immediately after we blast off into the future within that same episode.

Listen to the Revisions and Mix - One of the goals of this project is to make our music better. Each episode we will determine if a song is finished, or if it needs more work. After a song receives initial feedback the artist will often work on revisions, (sometimes the song can go through multiple rounds of revisions) after which the song will be given a proper mix resulting in a finished track that is ready for release.
